Chomped Go Go Pink

Hopefully everyone is having an awesome weekend so far!

Sorry about being MIA. This week and next week are finals week and I am just feeling swamped! Anywho, but I do have a post for you today!

Here is China Glaze Go Go Pink. This is 3 coats. The first coat was super streaky, the 2nd coat was mildly streaky and the last coat made it perfect! Needless to say it was well worth the 3 coats! (I'm not a 3 coater person) I am so glad that I picked this up. It was on sale at Sally's as a combo with Seche Vite. It was only like $6.99 so I picked it up on a whim figuring I could giveaway the bottle of Seche Vite. Well, I'm usually not into milky pastel colors but for some reason, I am really enjoying this one on my nails. I love it! It's simply just a soft, milky, pastel almost jelly looking pink. Gah. I just love this one so much.

So this is the reason I chomped down all my nails. Since after having my baby, my nails aren't as strong as they used to be. And so at the very edge of my thumb nail, it ripped like this. Which really sucked. It caught onto everything and I mean everything. My hair, his diaper, my clothes. And it wasn're pretty to look at. So I just decided to chomp it down and regrow my nails. I haven't had my nails this short in YEARS and its awfully strange. However, I am debating whether to pick up the guitar again or not (that means I'll need to have short trimmed nails in order to play). But anyways, yes, this was the reason why I cut my nails super short. I'm not the kind of person to let myself have nails that have different lengths on each finger (which by the way is fine by me with other people). So, I hope my short nails don't look to bad.

Has this ever happened to you?

Twinsie Tuesday: Skittles Mani

Hello good afternoon!

It's finally Tuesday and you know what that means! Twinsie Tuesday! This weeks challenge was to creat a skittle man.

Ok. So I literally decided to put skittles on my nails.

Ha. I sort of like it. It's fun and cute. Hopefully this makes the cute. For this mani, I used Ulta Non-Stop Red, Sally Hansen Sun Kissed, Ulta Sun-sational and lastly Orly Lucky Duck. For all fingers, I used 2 coats. After I finished the mani, I wished that I would've put a background to it. Like maybe, blue. Sort of disappointed however I am still enjoying it!

Tell me what you think! Or what you think of skittles mani!
Anna

PS - Sorry, I'm a little late.

I'm excited to see what the other Twinsies skittled on their nails!

Color To Diner For

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

I was going to blog this morning but didn't feel like it too much. So it's around 10PM right now and here I am!

Today I have a polish from the OPI Touring America collection. I actually didn't even know it was from that collection. But here is Color To Diner For. This was 2 opaque coats. This color is a berry leaning red with tiny gold/copper shimmer in it. I am beginning to notice that a lot of OPI polishes have this golden shimmer in it but doesn't transfer well onto the nails. Which is a little disappointing. None the less, it's a beautiful color. I just wished that the shimmer were more pronounced as the nails as it obvious in the bottle.

What do you think?

Wing Zero

Happy Saturday!

Yesterday was such a beautiful day! Hopefully today is just as bright. Well, today I bring you another franken! My husband helped me name all of my franken polishes (so thanks husband, I know you'll be reading this sometime soon). Hopefully you're not getting bored of my frankens.

My husband said that this reminded of space, that's how he came up with Wing Zero - I think it's a pretty awesome name.  Anywho, I wish I was able to capture the true beauty of this polish in pictures. But I think this is so beautiful! It has purple/blue/gold/pink shimmers with slightly larger glitters. Just so beautiful. I think this turned out great. I wish I did a regular black base coat. Once I applied the 2 coat, the larger glitters sort of got lost. However, I am still enjoying this.

No Name Franken

I should really be working on my paper right now, but I'm just not feeling motivated. Only 1 more page to write and I'll be finished with it. Is it just me? Because I truly hate writing papers, and hate is a very strong word.

Now on to the franken. I was just messing around and came up with this. I feel like it's such a mystery when it comes to frankening. It's like a hit or miss. And believe me, I have had tons of misses unfortunately. But this one, I feel like it turned out great!

Here's a bottle shot of the delicious goodness.

This franken has no name but I am in love with this concoction. I wish I would've added more glitter, but none the less,  I am proud to say that I frankended this! At first, I was afraid to add the glitter because like many other polishes I have seen, I didn't want the glitter buried under the nail polish - that's just not cool to me. But it turned out to be gorgeous (or so I think) and I am really glad I decided to add the glitter. Anywho, this bad boy was 2 awesome opaque coats. And please excuse the stains at the tip of the nails. I was frankening other polishes and got it all over this mani. But I hope you are enjoying this as much as I am!

What do you think? Have any names in mind?

School

I have recently just switched my major over from biology to human services. I think that's what I want to do, or so I am pretty sure. I wanted to blog about this because I feel like it's an important topic. Especially with the gradual increase of tuition time after time.

Originally, I wanted to go to school to study biology - my BS. But after this semester taking Gen Chem 1, I have changed my mind. Everyone says that Gen Chem 2 is much harder. And I'm thinking like, "HOW THE HECK AM I GONNA DO GEN CHEM 2?" So I thought about long hard and switching is what I have come to. It really sucks because I'm in the 2nd semester of my 3rd year in college and now I don't even know what my expected graduation date it. So sad. Not that I was going to graduate on time since my advisor suggested the wrong math class as my pre-req for chem. But it is what it is.

With that, I wanted to share my thoughts about college. You know, everyone thinks that you should know what you want to do when you graduate high school. But really, you shouldn't or so, you don't have to. College is a time to explore and from there, really know what you want to do. Everyone thinks that you should know what you want from college but that's not true - for the most part. I thought I wanted to go to med school but it's not. I wish I knew that earlier. I wish I was able to explore other careers so I don't have to go through what I am now - switching majors and graduating WAY past  my expected grad date. However, I want to encourage those who really don't know what they want to do. It takes time to know and figure what you want to become and the kind of career you want to be working for the rest of your life. It's not always easy but with time, you'll definitely get there. Like me, ha. College it serious stuff especially when you're taking out massive loans. Then you gotta think about what you want to do when you only have 2 years. After 2 1/2 years (which is late) I sort of know what I want to do. So, continue to go to school and HAVE YOUR OPTIONS OPEN! I can't stress that enough.

Lastly, I want to thank my husband, friends, family and most importantly God for having been so supportive of this significant change in my life.

Thanks for reading. What are your thoughts? What are you going to school for? Do you know what you want to major in?

Twinsie Tuesday: Tape Mani

Hello! This weeks Twinsie Tuesday edition is: tape mani.

Lately, I haven't been having any good picture days. I thought those days were over when I graduated highschool. But I've learned to embrace it and accept that everyday can't be a perfect picture day. You just make the best of it! I like to think that goes for everything else. That being said on to the mani!

One, I don't really do tape manis because for some reason I can never get clean crisp lines. And that bothers the living thing out of me. So I just stay away from it. But today is a small exception.

I think this is one of my worst manis yet. After I polished this manis and took pictures, I took it off. The crooked lines would not make me happy. By the way, sorry for the dent on the index. That was from my son.

For this mani I used Sally Hansen X treme wear in Wet Cemet, Lacey Lilac and Mint Sorbet. Most of them were opaque in 2 coats.

Well, tell me what you think. Maybe I've been too hard on myself lately.

Dooney and Bourke

Fail.

Dang. Have you ever had one of those days where you took 516515681x pictures and non of them turned out right? Yeah. That's me. For the first time ever. I don't why know. And the worst part was that this manicure did not turn out to be what I had in my mind. But tell me what you think.

Look my ring finger. My husband said it looks like white blobs. It's suppose to say D & B, you know, like the initials for the brand. But this was a horrible attempt. Unfortunately. I don't think everyones manis always turns out the way you want it to and/or imagined but you embrace it and continue to practice because practice makes perfect!

However, it turned out to be a failure. I don't like it at all. Below is my inspiration for this mani.

My failed attempt.

PS Happy Friday! Have a great weekend everyone!

Kim-pletely Glass Pink

Good morning it's Wednesday! Half way done with the week, or so they call it "hump" day.

Don't you just love the name? Totally fit for her. Anywho, so that is what I have for today!

This one was probably one most wanted polishes when the Kardashian Kolors released their polish line. I know some people who paid $12-$15 for this polish. This is not your normal sheer jelly-looking pink. I actually picked it up because of the hype. But it's a pale milky pink with shimmer but it has beautiful iridescent blue/purple glassflecks in it!

I know most people did 4 coats but I switched it up. For the base I used a coat of Sinful Colors Glass Pink then 2 coats of Kim-pletely in Love. You can't see in the picture but under the perfect lighting you can see Glass Pink shining through and you can see the beautiful gold specks. I love the way it looks but I don't think it's to die for. So I am thinking about putting it in my blog sale. We will see how that goes!

Do you own Kim-pletely in Love or any of the KK colors from NOPI?
Anna

Also, I just have to share this with you because gas prices are going crazy!

Everyday I only hope to see gas being sold at the dollar store!

Twinsie Tuesday: Nude Polish

Today's Twinsie Tuesday post is: nude polish.

Sorry for the last post, my son has had a pretty grumpy morning.

Well, to be honest I only own 1 nude polish (to me it's nude) and I don't really like it. I haven't decided yet if it's the nude that I don't like or the formula. Let me know what you think.

Sorry, not a lot of sunshine here today. Anywho, this is Essie Topless and Barefoot. 3 nice coats and I feel like it was still a little streaky. I actually bought this on a whim just to try out Essie polishes, and I think it's the Essie that I really don't like. The formula is poo, and the brush is too short for my preference. That's the reason why I have decided to put it in my blog sale. After application, I did some research and apparently the hype about this polish when it was first released were that it was an opaque polish. What happened to mine? Anywho, I feel like this color just doesn't sit well against my skin tone. Topless and Barefoot is a putty beige shade that has a slightly pink undertone and this it just does not compliment my skin. However, for others I think this can be a real gem.

So what do you think of T&B? Do you like your Essie polishes?
Anna

I'm excited to see what the other Twinsie Tuesdays ladies posted, maybe I'll be able to find a real awesome nude polish! Be sure to check them out!

Smoldering

Only a month and half of school left. I am totally ready for summer break!

Well, happy Monday sort of. Today, I have a new polish that I just purchased over the weekend at Ulta when they had their 40% off sale. So here it is Revlon Smoldering.

Smoldering is is like a metallic-chrome frost with a grey base. It has swirls of really fine, foily shimmer. The picture do no justice but at different angles, you are able to see like the hints or teal/green and sometimes even pink. In real life, it is so much prettier! This was 3 coats. 2 would have been ok but my husband suggested 3 so I did that, which I barely ever do. The formula was not too thick or runny. Just perfect!

So what do you think of Smoldering? Do you own it?

Weekend Mini Haul

This weekend seemed like it went by way too fast. How sad.

First off, I'm sort of sad because I didn't have time to do any Easter nails. So happy belated Easter to those celebrate the day that Jesus rose from death to life. Maybe next year I'll have something special! In the mean time, I have a tiny haul to share with you all.

My total for 3 Revlon lip butters, 1 EOS lip blam and a Revlon polish came up to be only $15.27. I actually went to Ulta because they were have an awesome sale for Revlon, Almay and Physicians Forlmula and look at this awesome deal! Good deal you think?

I am super excited that I spotted the LE Wet n Wild collections! I can't tell you how lucky I felt considering the fact that the Midwest barely ever gets anything. Anywho, I only purchased the Fauna collection because I felt like the colors were more wearable. Then I finally found Downtown Browns! I never thought I was ever going to get my hands on these, but I'm glad I did. This palette has such beautiful purple and browns. This is definitely a palette worth investing. Unfortunately, unlike regular WnW 8 pan palettes are $4.99, all of the Black Radiance 8 pan palettes are $6.99. Bummer, however WnW has great pigmention considering the price. Well, I hope you can get your hands on these!

Did you buy anything over the weekend?

Dots And A Bow

Good afternoon Thursday! Tomorrow is Friday, YAY!

I wanted something chic and fun and so here it is.

For this mani, I used Sally Hansen Black Out and White on with 2 coats then one lovely buttery smooth coat of Zoya Kristi. This was very simple and easy since I didn't want something too time consuming. I was really surprised that Kristi only took 1 coat?! How often can you find polishes like that? Amazing! Zoya, you never cease to amaze me!

I hope you enjoyed this super easy mani! Have a happy Thursday!

What do you think? Yay for 1 coaters?
Anna

Sorry for the blurry pic but he was moving around a lot. Anywho, he is officially 8 months old today. That number scares me. Soon enough, he'll be asking for candy. His top two teeth are beginning to poke out already. My, my they grow up fast. I can't believe it's been long months already.

Twinsie Tuesday: Go To Polish

Good morning Tuesday. This weeks edition is our go-to mani/polish.

It was hard for me to pick a go-to polish just because I really don't have a go-to polish. But I choose this one because it's one of my favorite go-to polishes for the Spring because Spring is just around the corner!

This picture is not color accurate at all. I usually don't post and take pictures when there's no sunlight and lately we haven't been seeing any of that here unfortunately. So it was very hard to capture the true beauty of this polish.

This is OPI I Mainely Eat Lobster. This was 3 coats. The formula was like butter except the brush was very hard and stiff which created bald spots on my nails even with the littlest pressure I used to apply the polish. IEML is like a coral leaning orange polish with coral shimmer. The shimmer in the bottle doesn't transfer well on the nails which is very unfortunate because it's so pretty. However, I LOVE this color against my skin tone. It just makes my hands look white, and clean.

Again, sorry for the not-so-good pictures.

What's your favorite go-to polish?
Anna

I'm excited to see what the other Twinsie ladies are their go-to polishes!

Jaded

It's Sunday and the week is going to start all over again. unfortunately. At least we got some sun today!

So I have this mani for you today that really reminds me of another polish I own. I didn't realize it until I bought it or actually until I painted it on my nails.

I hope you're able to see how the color transitions from an almost olive green to the purple. Even though there are only tiny hints visible, I hope you can still see it.

It's definitely a very beautiful color but it really reminds me of Essence Where Is The Party? except the duochrome in this isn't as strong. The polish is actually rather sheer. I used one coat Zoya Dannii, then one coat of Ulta Jaded and topped it off with Out The Door. While I was in Ulta browsing about the polishes, this looked so much prettier on the rack than it does on my nails. Considering this is $6 something dollars, and the Essence Where Is The Party? you'd get a stronger duochrome with the Essence polish for only $2 something bucks! However, it's still pretty. Though I could've purchased an OPI or Zoya for only a couple bucks more. What the who. Hope you like this one!

By the way, Happy April Fools! No jokes for me today.

Ok. Sorry one last thing! *SPOILERS THE HUNGER GAMES*
So I finally watched The Hunger Games, and let me tell you, I CAN WATCH IT AGAIN! It was really good. Others may disagree (like my husband, he said it's not nearly as good as Twilight). During the Reaping day, I started crying already! And when Rue died, ugh. I'm such an emotional person when I watch movies and it just came flooding down! My husband always sort of giggles at me and tells me "Don't worry, it's only a movie! It's fake!" However I cried and really enjoyed the movie. But for all you readers of this awesome trilogy, where is the District 13 coming from? I think they said a few times but did I miss it? What's this thing with Prim and their mom? I think their father died in a coal mining explosion? I think that's it.

Hope you had a great weekend! Mine was way too short.
Anna
