Polka-dotticure

Getting into the swing of nail art again and I just wanted to do something a little less challenging.

Simple and easy. I used acrylic paint for this a and a simple opaque white nail polish for base. Not too inspiration or aspiring but this was fun and I hope you enjoy it!

What are some of your favorite dotticures?

A Break From Swatching

Since lately all I've been posting are reviews and I was out and sick for so long, I thought a break from that would be nice. I love doing reviews but nail art is just as fun!

It feels good doing some nail art again. I'm certainly not the best at it but I do enjoy it and I have fun.

For the base I used China Glaze For Audrey, for the gold glitter, I used Ulta High Roller, and that was a hot mess to clean up. For the rest of the colors, I used acrylic paints to avoid smearing and/or smudging. Anywho, I love the results and the color combo. Theres something about turquose and brown that I absolutely adore. It's like the perfect pair!

Twinsie Tuesday: Black & White

I am so excited about this weeks challenge! Black and white.

There's something about black and white manis that make them so chic. I must admit that this is not the best, but I really loved playing with it and I cant wait to share with you the other black and white inspired manis I came up with!

Did I ever tell you, there's something about just plain white manicures that bug me so much? Strange right?

I hope you can tell those are roses! I really love this because it's so simple and fun. It's also a mani that most people can do excluding the middle finger, that was a pain in the butt - it was hard to get the little swirlies the right size so I could fit other swirlies in.

For the white base, I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Hardware in White Out and Black Out for the ring finger. It's such an awesome white polish - it's super opaque in 1 quick coat. I then used an acrylic paint in black and white for the designs and the shades of grey for the roses.

What do you think of black and white manis?

November 8 for No H8: Eradicate Hate in the Nail Polish Blogger Community

Bullying is not funny. It is not cool. It is not right. And more importantly, it is not okay.

Most of us are, thankfully, residents of countries that support tolerance and many of our families have settled in these places simply for that reason. Generations later, it is our responsibility to perpetuate that message of tolerance across our new social platforms, including the internet.

As members of the nail polish blogging community, we all share a love of beauty, color, and lacquer. Other than that, we are remarkably different: from our race to our religion to our hair color...even to our polish application techniques. To marginalize anyone because of those differences is completely unacceptable and today I take a stand against that. I refuse to allow other people's view of "normal" dictate how I behave, believe, and blog.

In solidarity with a multitude of bloggers linked below, my purple manicure represents my proud commitment to the No H8 movement. Today, November 8, I dedicate my post to ending bullying of any kind and to encouraging diversity and imperfection among our colorful community.

Something sweet and dainty. The base color is ELF Lilac and the flowers are a purple acrylic paint as well as the green leaves.

I hope that you will support anti-bullying, not only in the polish blogging community but any kind of bullying. It's crazy what polish can do the nail community, literally. However, we can all bring an end to it.
Please note that Llarowe will be donating $2.00 of every purple polish sold on her site from 12am Thursday, November 8 through 12am Friday, November 9 to Pacer.org, an organization devoted to anti-bullying education.
If you or someone you know suffers from bullying, there is help available. Please visit the following sites for support and encouragement:

Twinsie Tuesday: Canadian's Choice

This has got to be one of the worst nail arts that I have ever done. And as you can see, it's a Canadian Twinsie Tuesday! Yes, we love you Canadians!

We were split up in 2 groups, which were Team Ash and Team Anne, then we were given a secret challenge. Both groups we assigned a Canadian topic, and go Team Anne! Yeah, we got the woodland challenge.

Now, I have never been to Canada so I have no idea how it looks like, so I Googled up "Canada woodlands" and created what I could, I really tried my very best.

Not the best nail art that I have produced but this one was a real challenge. It was really suppose to look more like this:

Someone tell me that this looks like Canada please!?

Woot for Team Anne. I hope I have represented you Canadians well. And if I didn't I apologize!

I mainly used acrylic paints. It was hard having to mix the colors, hence the reason why the colors look so "blotchy" and meshed together. However, I hope you enjoy this because I had a lot of fun doing this!

Close to Canada at all?

Breast Cancer Awareness by the Numbers

In honor of the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Julep teamed up with  The Edith Sanford Breast Cancer Foundation in hopes of raising breast cancer awareness and educate you with the changes that you can make to avoid it.

In honor of this month, I present to you my very first Breast Cancer Awareness mani!

I promise you, it's pink and white but for some reason, it looks like peach leaning orange. But it's really pink! I'm not sure why it is so very washed out. However, I hope you can make out the ribbon! I'm not too happy with the way it turned out, but I have definitely have had worse nail art mani days, so I can't be too hard on myself!

I used a white base by Sally Hansen and for the glitter I used Sinful Colors Queen of Beauty. For the rest of the pink and white, I used red and white acrylic paints in attempt to avoid any smearing.

With that said, I really hope you look through the photo above and inform yourself with this very important information.

Do you support breast cancer awareness month?

POW!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend!

I don't know how nailside does it, but her tape manis are always so gorgeous! I always have trouble with the tape method. Every time I go to take the tape off, it always pulls. Maybe because I don't have enough patience to allow the base to try but I have figured that using nail tape it much easier, I just have to be very careful.

Please excuse the mess. Sometimes, I just don't have the patience for drying time (that's pretty obvious). Well, this is my POW! mani! I hope you like it!

I can't remember for the life of me what I polishes I used because I put them away before I wrote down the names (what a blogger right?) but I am sure you can find some great polishes with the same colors! A beautiful pink isn't hard to come across.

What do you think of tape manis? Have any tips?

Giraffe

Here's something fun and cute. Hopefully you like as much as I do!

If only giraffes were this baby cute in real life!

Now this was pretty easy. This mani was inspired a while ago when I was working on a Twinsie Tuesday animal inspired mani and this came to mind but I decided to use the other one.

For the pink base on the middle and ring finger, I used Zoya Areej. For all the colors of the giraffe, I used acrylic water based paints. I only have the primary colors, so I mixed them to create the color I need to create this cute giraffe.

Oh and sorry for the weird angle.

Well, I hope all of you have a fabulous weekend!

What's one of your fav animal inspired manis?

Twinsie Tuesday: Rainbow Mani

It's Tuesday! You know what that means! It's time for some Twinsie Tuesday! This weeks theme was a: rainbow mani.

I had a bit of a hard time. I couldn't make up my mind. I didn't know if I wanted to do an actual rainbow or what. With that said, this is what I came up. It's probably not all that unique but I had a fun time with it.

Please excuse my nails and cuticles. It was a tough weekend and I didn't have time to give them a little TLC and they look pretty beat up. Not to mention, I totally just cut them down to the nubbins. It was a long weekend.

Also, don't mind the lighting and all, I'm still fiddling with it!

For this mani, I used acrylic paint for all the colors and mixed whatever I needed for the colors. I then topped it off with 1 coat of Out The Door.

I had a lot of fun coming up with this though I am sure you have seen many dotticures around.

Also, don't mind the lighting and all, I'm still fiddling with it!

What do you think?

Leopard Print

This is just something simple and easy. It's a busy weekend for me! Got a full day on Saturday and church on Sunday! Then back back to school on Monday, boo. Fortunately, school seems to going well so far, yay for that!

This has got to be one of the easiest nail art techniques that even a nail art noob can do! I'm definitely a noob at nail art, and somehow I managed this!

For the very bright looking blue, I used Orly Skinny Dip. It's such a pretty color! It has a slightly purple shimmer in the bottle but not at all visible on the nail which is unfortunate. For the gold, I used Ulta High Roller and some acrylic black paint.

Well, that's it for now. I hope all of you have a lovely weekend!

Don't forget to check out my 2 giveaways! Click here for the Julep giveaway and here for my 350 followers giveaway!

Twinsie Tuesday: Floral Mani

You know what day of the week it is! That's right! Twinsie Tuesday! And this weeks theme is: floral mani.

Alright. I'm not much of a nail artist but I do enjoy doing it. So hopefully, my mani will be as awesome as my Twinsies'!

Red poppies. Yay or nay?

For the base I used Essie Looking for Love. It's the perfect jelly grey with lots of blue undertones, so technically it's bley, if you know what I mean! However, I LOVE it! It was a bit streaky with 2 coats but the 3 one covered it perfectly! Looking for Love is actually my first time using and I was really impressed with this one. As you may or may not know, Essie is one brand that I am not too fond of.

For the stems, flowers and buds I used acrylic paint. As you can tell, I almost always use acrylic paint to avoid any smearing and/or smudging.

So what do you think?

Black and White Stripes are Breezi

I hope you enjoyed this one as much I as did. It's simple and cute - and most of the time that's what I like!

Before the pictures, I want to apologize how yellow the pictures look. As you can tell, I recently just started using a light box and I am still trying to figure this thing out. Oh how I wish natural sunlight was more dependable.

If any of you light box users have any tips and tricks, please be sure to let me know!

Now, for yellow pictures.

For the blue, I used Zoya Breezi from my post the other day. I love this color and can't get enough of it. After a about a day or so, I added the black and white stripes just to add a fun little twist. For the white base on the pointer and thumb fingers, I used Sally Hansen Xtreme White Out and just a plain black acrylic paint for the stripes. Boy does it take steady hands to make those lines! I must say that was a real challenge but I am proud to say they look pretty decent!

Again, please pardon my weird colored looking skin. I personally prefer natural sunlight but with winter coming around, I'll have to play around with time considering that we barely get enough sun time out. So hopefully soon the lighting will be perfected! In the mean time, please bare with me.

So please let me know if you have any tips! I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

Twinsie Tuesday: Animal Inspired

This week's theme was so much fun! I felt like there were so many thing that I wanted to do. So many different animals! Horses, cats, dogs, elephants oh the list was endless! Ultimately, for this week's Twinsie Tuesday theme, I went with: sheeps!

I also want to apologize that I haven't been commenting back or to your blogs. I have been super busy lately. That's no excuse, but just give me a little time to play catchup!

For the base, I used Zoya Kristen. Two lovely coats and it covered perfectly. For everything else, I used acrylic paint.

I wanted to do elephants, but did sheeps because I was short on time. However, you will be seeing animals posts soon here!

So far, I think this one is probably one of favorite themes so far! Besides the franken and jelly sandwich.

And please pardon my absence as this is a schedule post and I will not be back in town until Tuesday night. Therefore, hopefully by Wednesday morning, I will have the winner for my 200+ followers giveaway announced. So stay tuned lovelies! Have a great day!

What's would you have done for this week's animal theme?

Kim Goes Rawr

Happy happy Saturday! Another week closer to school!

This isn't all that awesome but I thought it looked so cute!

I hope you can tell that's a dinosaur. Well, it's suppose to be a dinosaur.

The base is NOPI Kim Konfidential, as you can see my post here. All the colors besides the base color are acrylic paints - I didn't want anything to smear.

Anywho, I hope you enjoyed this and have a lovely weekend! Oh and sorry for such a short post.

Do you think it looks like a dinosaur?

Twinsie Tuesday: Patriotic

This week's Twinsie Challange: Patriotic mani in honor of July 4th.

This one has got to be one of my least favorites. 1. I'm not much of a patriotic person. 2. I felt so limited. I didn't even like the one that I came up with.

Here it is. It's a mess and definitely not my best.

For the red, I used Ulta Non-stop Red, for the blue I used Revlon First class, then I used an acrylic white paint and Sinful Colors Queen Beauty for the glitter. I free handed the half moon so I hope it looks ok.

With that, Happy July 4th to all the Americans!

How does you patriotic mani look like?

Ikat

It is finally the weekend! And it is my first actual summer break weekend! Incase you're wondering, I passed my summer course with a B+. I hate those "+" and "-". It makes me feel like, if only I did a little bit more, I would've done better. But what can I say? B+ is passing.

So, I have finally had time to start doing more stuff on my nails. And it feels good!

I am sure you have seen this design around but this is my interpretation. I have been wanting to do this for a while but didn't think it would turn out as decent as it did. So I am glad to say that I am pretty proud of myself. Fortunately, it was much easier than I thought it would. You should give it a try as well!

For the base I used China Glaze For Audrey then I used a non-toxic acrylic paint for the red, black and white. It was very simple and I really enjoyed looking at my nails. Luckily, this particular design doesn't acquire much skill so that's a plus!

Digging the ikat designs lately?

Minions

Oh no. It's Monday tomorrow. For me, worst day of the week.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I worked this weekend and celebrated my little brother's 18th birthday, he was so happy! However, I can't want to see Despicable Me 2. I am super excited! I actually wasn't even interested in Despicable Me at all until my husband told me to watch it and now, I LOVE it! It's such a cute movie!

Sorry it's a tiny bit blurry but I hope you don't mind because the minions are so cute! For this mani I used Ulta Sun-sational for the base coat and that was 2 opaque coats for the denim overall, I used Ulta Mint Condition, Orly Prince Charming for the overall buttons and pupils, Brucci Sophies Sweet Pink for the little tongue and lastly black and white acrylic paint. The reason for that is, I didn't want any smearing and wanted to avoid it as much as possible, but that's inevitable. Anywho, like I said I can't wait to see it. Too bad it doesn't come until sometime in 2013. Oh, and the trailer is just so adorable! I love to watch it whenever it comes on.

Are you excited to watch Despicable Me 2?
