Twinsie Tuesday: Red Mani

This weeks theme is a red mani. Now, it's definitely not one of my favorites but not my worst either.

Just a really simple red mani with lines. Behind the scenes, I can't tell you how long each line took! So I can say, I'm pretty proud of this. And honestly, I can't even remember what red I used! Sorry.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this!

Darling Diva Polish Regulus Review

So, I wanted to wait to do some reviews on the lovely Darling Diva Polishes since I cut my nails down to nubbins this past weekend, but I just could not wait to show you some of her lovelies! I was so excited, yes, very!

And if you haven't already seen my previous DDP review, you can check it out here!

My new polish bestie, Carrie from Darling Diva Polish and I have been exchanging emails and texts and have met up a few times, and I can not even explain to you how sweet she is! We polish talked for over hours! Seriously! Not to mention, she has a stash to die for! I'm not joking! Like melmers full of Deborah Lippmans and hard-to-find OPI's and China Glaze's. I sat there and petted (is that even a word?) her lovelies. Oh and I died a little over there - I was in polish heaven!

Now I'm totally getting side-tracked. Sorry.

This gem here is Regulus. Regulus is a part of her Halloween collection inspired by the true Wiccans colors. Regulus is the guiding star for the Guardian of the Watchtower of the South. Primary Element of Fire.

Playing with the lighting. Check out those purple iridescent glitters!

Regulus is a reddish jelly base jam packed with purple iridescent glitters and green glitter squares. There are also large red hexes interspersed throughout. This was only 2 smooth and buttery coats with no base/underwear. I topped this off with Bettina Base/top coat. Isn't she lovely? Check out those red hexes!

This one is definitely one of my favorites. The red jelly base, purple iridescent glitters, large red hexes and it applied like a dream! It just can not get any better! And I love how the green square glitters almost look black but they're really not. Need I say more? Seriously, glitter-jelly goodness!

The best part is yet to come!

You can purchase Darling Diva Polishes at her Etsy shop here for only $8! Some are $12. But seriously, an awesome indie for $8, that doesn't come around enough.

You can also "Like" her Facebook page to keep updated on her shop and future polishes here. Also, she is having a 1000 Likes on Facebook giveaway which you can enter here, and her prizes are pretty awesome. They include 5 prizes:

  • 1st Prize will be a $50 gc to Caribou Coffee (or Starbucks, pick your poison:) and 5 polishes of your choosing from my available stock this will include polishes not currently offered for sale if I have them
  • 2nd Prize is a $25 gc to Caribou or Starbucks and 4 polishes of your choosing.
  • 3rd Prize $15 gc and 3 polishes
  • 4th Prize $10 gc and 2 polishes
  • 5th Prize $5 gc and 1 polish

Now if I were you, I'd head over there now!

What are some of your favorites from DDP?

Twinsie Tuesday: Patriotic

This week's Twinsie Challange: Patriotic mani in honor of July 4th.

This one has got to be one of my least favorites. 1. I'm not much of a patriotic person. 2. I felt so limited. I didn't even like the one that I came up with.

Here it is. It's a mess and definitely not my best.

For the red, I used Ulta Non-stop Red, for the blue I used Revlon First class, then I used an acrylic white paint and Sinful Colors Queen Beauty for the glitter. I free handed the half moon so I hope it looks ok.

With that, Happy July 4th to all the Americans!

How does you patriotic mani look like?

Ikat

It is finally the weekend! And it is my first actual summer break weekend! Incase you're wondering, I passed my summer course with a B+. I hate those "+" and "-". It makes me feel like, if only I did a little bit more, I would've done better. But what can I say? B+ is passing.

So, I have finally had time to start doing more stuff on my nails. And it feels good!

I am sure you have seen this design around but this is my interpretation. I have been wanting to do this for a while but didn't think it would turn out as decent as it did. So I am glad to say that I am pretty proud of myself. Fortunately, it was much easier than I thought it would. You should give it a try as well!

For the base I used China Glaze For Audrey then I used a non-toxic acrylic paint for the red, black and white. It was very simple and I really enjoyed looking at my nails. Luckily, this particular design doesn't acquire much skill so that's a plus!

Digging the ikat designs lately?

Rock-On Red

My, my have I missed so many amazing blog posts due to my busy schedule. I have been so very behind lately, including commenting, posting and what not. Forgive me, once again. I usually like to do some nail art at least once a week, but you know my boss man, he loves to keep me up til 5 am. Speaking of that, it's funny story time.

So, my son who is 10 months old likes to keep me up til around 5 am. I try to get him on a regular schedule but due to my hours and my hubby's, they don't quite mesh in well together. Anyways, yes he loves to keep me up that late, or early? And so, he finally decides to sleep at some 5 in the morning. And boy, was I tired as ever (I have Summer classes 2 days a week at 9:30 am), so before I'm going to sleep, I set my alarm on my phone because I have to wake up an extra 40 minutes because I nurse. So he finally falls asleep and I'm laying in bed half asleep trying to set my alarm in my phone. For what seemed like 10 minutes, I couldn't set the alarm. I had gotten extremely frustrated because it wouldn't set for some reason. (If you have an iPhone, you know you how you can put your apps together in a folder, right. Yes. I have my apps grouped like that.) After being frustrated for 10 minutes I finally woke up and realized why I couldn't set me alarm?! I was setting the calculator the whole time. Cray cray, much?

Now onto the mani:

This is 1 coat of Orly Rock-On Red. It's a beautiful and strange red. It's not truly a red neither a pink. It sort of stands in between. The color dries a bit darker on the nails compared to what is seen in the bottle. But 1 smooth and opaque creamy coat and this will give you full coverage. I was very impressed. However, the name does not go well with the color of the polish. Does it look any sort of red to you?

What are some of you favorite reds? Or Orly polishes?

Twinsie Tuesday: Ombre

This weeks Twinsie Tuesday challenge is: ombre.

All three fingers except the index look like they're the same red. I know. I failed. Oh well, better luck next time.

I can't remember what reds I used. My son rampaged through them before I could get to them. So sorry. It honestly looks like it's all the same reds. I am way disappointed in myself. Ombres are seriously not my thing.

Any tips for a better ombre next time?
Anna

I bet the other Twinsie Tuesday ladies' manis turned out better than mine did!

Beetle

Today is hump day. I always have and still do think thats such an odd name for Wednesday. Why not just say Wednesday?

Today, I have Hard Candy Beetle for you! I think there was a lot of hype around this polish. After I purchased it, I don't really know why. I think it's really pretty polish. But not one that I'm crazy about.

Sorry for the blurriness in the first photo and I forgot to take a bottle shot. But the douchrome in this is very strong. On the nails it flashes from a brown, purple, green, olive to even red. This was 3 coats. The formula was really thin, thankfully no streaky. It could have been definitely worse. So I guess, at the least I'm thankful for that. I also picked up another bottle of this, maybe for a giveaway or something. Is Hard Candy sold outside of the US? I wonder.

While Beetle is a very pretty duo/multi chrome, I'm really not too impressed or in love with it. Why? I'm not sure. I just don't love it that much.

What did you think of Beetle? If you don't it, do you have access to HC?

Twinsie Tuesday: Skittles Mani

Hello good afternoon!

It's finally Tuesday and you know what that means! Twinsie Tuesday! This weeks challenge was to creat a skittle man.

Ok. So I literally decided to put skittles on my nails.

Ha. I sort of like it. It's fun and cute. Hopefully this makes the cute. For this mani, I used Ulta Non-Stop Red, Sally Hansen Sun Kissed, Ulta Sun-sational and lastly Orly Lucky Duck. For all fingers, I used 2 coats. After I finished the mani, I wished that I would've put a background to it. Like maybe, blue. Sort of disappointed however I am still enjoying it!

Tell me what you think! Or what you think of skittles mani!
Anna

PS - Sorry, I'm a little late.

I'm excited to see what the other Twinsies skittled on their nails!

Color To Diner For

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

I was going to blog this morning but didn't feel like it too much. So it's around 10PM right now and here I am!

Today I have a polish from the OPI Touring America collection. I actually didn't even know it was from that collection. But here is Color To Diner For. This was 2 opaque coats. This color is a berry leaning red with tiny gold/copper shimmer in it. I am beginning to notice that a lot of OPI polishes have this golden shimmer in it but doesn't transfer well onto the nails. Which is a little disappointing. None the less, it's a beautiful color. I just wished that the shimmer were more pronounced as the nails as it obvious in the bottle.

What do you think?

Dots And A Bow

Good afternoon Thursday! Tomorrow is Friday, YAY!

I wanted something chic and fun and so here it is.

For this mani, I used Sally Hansen Black Out and White on with 2 coats then one lovely buttery smooth coat of Zoya Kristi. This was very simple and easy since I didn't want something too time consuming. I was really surprised that Kristi only took 1 coat?! How often can you find polishes like that? Amazing! Zoya, you never cease to amaze me!

I hope you enjoyed this super easy mani! Have a happy Thursday!

What do you think? Yay for 1 coaters?
Anna

Sorry for the blurry pic but he was moving around a lot. Anywho, he is officially 8 months old today. That number scares me. Soon enough, he'll be asking for candy. His top two teeth are beginning to poke out already. My, my they grow up fast. I can't believe it's been long months already.

Festive Christmas

I finally gathered the festive Holiday spirit in me to polish a simple and plain merry look on my nails. Unfortunately I went to sleep with them a tinch wet and well, you know the results. They were a little smushed up. I was just way too tired to sit there and wait for them to dry, so I just went to sleep. And when I woke up, I wanted to repaint them all over again. Then I thought; well Christmas is almost over and I’m definitely not the best artist with my left hand. So I just left it. Plus, I didn’t like the polish enough to redo it all perfectly. So here’s what it looks like:

So, before I painted my nails with this, I had on Orly’s Fowl Play. And boy, that polish is just such a beauty! I didn’t post a blog about because I felt like the pictures just did not justify the beauty of this polish. You can definitely google up some images, but this one is such a beautiful flake polish. It’s like a sheer jelly purple base with tons of various sized flakes and colors. It comes with red/green’ish duochrome flakes along with stunning tiny blue and silver glitters. This is from the Orly Fall 2011 Birds of a Feather collection and is definitely one of my favorites however it a little too dark for me, otherwise, you can definitely use a light base and then just 1 coat of the Fowl Play, but who knows how that’ll turn out. Anywho, toodles for now!

Did you paint anything festive on your nails?
