Twinsie Tuesday: Something New

Ever just have a bad swatch day? That was definitely me. My nails just didn't want to cooperate. Horrific. I kept smudging everything. It took forever to dry. Just a bad day. On top of that, I couldn't get a good picture. Someone tell me I'm not the only one who gets this?

Anywho, Somethine NEW! This was gifted to me recently from my older sister and I'm really enjoying this shade. So instead of something actually new, I wanted to do this one a little differently. Hopefully you enjoy my interpretation!

You know I love my OPI's. This is Berry Berry Broadway. A gorgeous bronzed berry shimmer. These are my kind of polishes. Not a creme but not too in-your-face type of polish. This is 2 coats. Unfortunately I kept bumping into everything it was just bad. None the less, I love this polish!

Have you done any polish hauls lately?

Twinsie Tuesday: East vs West Coast Swatch Off

Hopefully you all enjoy our swatch off!

I'm actually really located in the Midwest but I belong to the West part, so our challenge was to swatch our favorite shimmer. I was actually thinking of doing a Shimmer indie brand but I just received this in a swap so I was excited to swatch it!

Essie Pink-A-Boo. 2 smooth coats. It covered pretty well. The shimmer in this bottle is gorgeous, however, it's not as noticeable on the nail, especially when it is super bright out, the shimmer just looks white. But hopefully you can see the dimensions of the shimmer of the blurred bottle shot!

Gorgeous or what?!

Pahlish Ace of Fours

*Press Sample*

I am so happy to blogging about this baby! It's currently 2:22 AM right now but I am feeling dedicated! Right after this, I'm going to shower and hit the sheets! But before that, I bring to you Pahlish Ace of Fours.

These blue flakes are amazing in this white jelly base. In the description box, it says it's a sheer white base but I would say, it's a really soft baby blue. And I honestly like that it's not a straight white base. I actually really like it just like this. What really made me fall in love with this is the sparse flakies and the subtleness of the silver shimmer. In the last photo, you can really see it. It's like a peanut butter and jelly, it just goes so well. These pictures do no justice because in real life, it's even more amazing!

If you haven't already and would like to try some Pahlish Polishes, you can purchase them here on Llarowe and/or Shannon's Etsy shop

Twinsie Tuesday: A Polish From Your First Swap Ever

As you can already see today's theme is from our very first polish swap ever.

I could never forget my first nail swap! It was with Abbie from AbbieNail. Honestly to tell you the truth, I can't even remember how we came into contact with each other. I remember every polish she sent me but I can't for the life of me remember what I sent her. Ok, so I went through her blog and I remember now! She was looking for Claire's Candyshop (you know, that famous dupe for DL Candyshop). Yeah, that's how we got started.

Most of the polishes she sent me I already showcased on my blog, now with this post, I only have one more from that polish swap to show you! Hopefully that'll be soon!

This is Models Own Pink Cocktail and came in a trio set. The formula was great and it covered in 2 coats. Pink Cocktail and is a bright pink with tons of blue shimmer which was so hard to catch. I think it's the lighting from my light box. But I hope you see it in the almost-macro shot.

I love me some Models Own! Luckily in the nail polish groups I'm in, they're sweet enough to snatch me up a few! Oh how we are deeply deprived of Models Own!

What other brands would you like to see in the US?

I'm excited to see my Twinsies' first polish swap manis! Aren't you?

At Your Quebec And Call

So I have heard that this nail polish in particular is sort of hard to find? I'm not sure, but if you do know, please be sure to leave me a comment letting me know!

It's finally Thursday! I'm excited for this weekend except knowing that after this weekend, school starts. Boo. I guess Autumn is finally here. When the days start getting cooler and when school starts, yeah. On the other hand, I look forward to the state fair! Yay! Roasted corn, the best corn ever.

Anywho, now that's totally not what you were interested in. On the other hand, I hope you all have a fabulous summer!

OPI At Your Quebec And Call is definitely one of a kind. It's like a deep golden olive sort brown almost green with very tiny beautiful shimmers throughout. It's simply gorgeous and one that I don't have anything similar to in my collection.

Thanks to Victoria from Miss Vee's Nails, I was able to swap for this lovely. Oh she is such a sweetie bear! The packaging was superb as well. I hope to do another swap with her soon!

The formula for AYQAC was nice. A bit thin since it needed 3 coats for full opacity but it was by no means hard to work with or extremely streaky. It's probably one of favorites, sort of. I really like the uniqueness of it.

What do you think? Do you own At Your Quebec And Call?

Born 2 Pansy

I might have told you too many times that I love Jessica polishes. Sorry incase you're tired of hearing it, but I will say it again! I love me some Jessica's!

I have recently seen Jessica's at my local TJ Maxx, so you should check yours out incase they have them in. You can also purchase Jessica's here and Ninja Polish carries them as well. You can find them here.

But if you don't want to spend any money, check out my Jessica 200+ Followers Giveaway!

Soon as you apply these on your nails, you'll be wanting to own more!

Jessica Born 2 Pansy is a soft semi-sheer pale lilac color with many little glassfleck shimmers. The formula was perfect in 2 coats.

Born 2 Pansy was so hard to capture. The pictures here do no justice. The beauty of this polish in real life in amazing! You see all those little white speckles? Those little speckles are blue sort of glassfleck glitters which are almost duochrome. In some lighting, the shimmer turns into a purply-pink color. But just picture that. Gorgeous much?

Have you been wanting to try some Jessica's?

Blue Ranger

This one is the fraternal brother to a previous green version franken that I made a while ago. Except this time, this one is blue.

I named (actually the Hubby) named the green one Green Ranger after I blogged about so in light of that one, I thought Blue Ranger was the perfect name!

If you have ever frankened before, you would know that it is time consuming and it takes a lot of effort. It's more than throwing different glitters and polish together but it's making a masterpiece! And I think this may be one.

It was so hard to capture the shimmer and glitter. In the second picture, the camera couldn't make up it's mind and resulted with this slightly blurry one. But hopefully you'll get the point.

I frankened this one in the new Wet n Wild bottles and I hate those brushes. I haven't been able to come across a decent one yet, unfortunately.

As with Green Ranger, Blue Ranger has a minimal amount of glitter and shimmer. I love glitter but I don't like to add too much - at least in my frankens. This was opaque in 2 coats. I think I could have added an extra top coat to gloss it up and smooth it out but I am pretty happy with this.

What do you think?

Grin & Berry It

This is Ulta Grin & Berry It. What a weird name. I wonder what it means.

This is indeed my go-to color right now. I love the wine-berry'ish color. The purple shimmer is so subtle and beautiful. It was hard capturing it in daylight but the way it is in the flash it how visible it is in real life. I love the way it sits on my nails.

The formula and pigmentation were great. Very smooth and opaque in 2 coats. I have heard a few people having problems with the Ulta brand but I have always come across the goods. Maybe I've been lucky! If so, I hope my luck doesn't run out!

Well, I hope you all have a great weekend!

What's your go-to wine color?

Gwin

I had a wonderful weekend and I really hope that all of you wonderful lovelies did as well!

I have got something awesome for you today, er, well, I think this is pretty awesome.

Oh yeah! Look at that baby!

Zoya Gwin was super smooth and applied very easily. This was 2 very awesome opaque coats. Gwin was released in 2010 and is a coral'ish-orange with a very strong golden yellow'ish iridescent shimmer. Sometimes you can even see a green shimmer peeking through.

This was very hard to photograph for some reason. I hate when that happens, as I'm sure we all do. But hopefully you get the point. The iridescent shimmer is much more visible in real life. This color is like the unnamed coral-ly orange of the year except with a shimmer in it.

The only thing that I can really complain about it that in the picture with the flash, you can see the brush strokes. And anything with brush strokes annoys me! However, I am willing to let that go for the beautiful outcome considering since the brush strokes aren't noticeable. I really love this. It's so juicy looking for summer!

Cool Couture

Ever had that feeling where you sort of didn't really know if you spelled the word right? Like it was the only way that you had been spelling it all your life but the word just looked entirely wrong? Yes. That was  me today. I had to Google "couture" to make sure I spelled correctly because I didn't have the bottle in front of me. Boy do I hate this feeling especially when I'm in class!

So this is my very first and only Maybelline polish, Cool Couture. The shimmer in the base color really caught my eye as I don't often look at the polishes that Maybelline carries. However, this one is just gorgeous!

 Look at the beautiful shimmer!

Maybelline Cool Couture is a slate blue leaning grey with blue'ish-green shimmer running through out it, like a touch of Charla thrown in. This was 2 lovely coats. Isn't she gorgeous? I can say that I don't own anything like it. If only Maybelline made more unique polishes like this! But that would mean less money in the pocket, so I guess it's a good thing, sort of not really?

Well, I hope you all are having a great weekend so far!

What are some of you favorite drugstore brand polishes?

Prized Possession Purple

I've never been the kind of person to follow that trend where you change your polishes due to the season. Why? Because I feel that it's not necessary. I wear what I want to wear, and wear it whenever I want to. This is a plus because so many of my "fall appropriate" polishes get much more lovin'.

I purchased this polish in a duo set a while ago for a really good deal, but I can't remember where from. I was actually hesitant to purchase it but the price wouldn't allow me to give it up. Now, I am really glad that I did.

Hopefully you can see the shimmers in the blurr, because it's gorgeous!
(Indoor with flash)

The 2 bottom photos are color accurate but because this is a blurple type of color, you can't quite see it in the above pictures. The formula was perfect! Due to my poor application and impatience, you can see the pulling. Despite that, I really love this polish. I am so glad that I haven't ran into any polishes that I don't really like. There has a few but I love this one. PPP is actually my 2nd polish that I have purchased from the Nicole by OPI line. I dislike the shape of the bottles. That's what always stopped me from purchasing. But after this one, I am more than willing to branch out and try more polishes from NOPI. I only hope that the other polishes are just as amazing!

Do you have any NOPI faves?

Emerald Fitzgerald

I work tomorrow morning at 5 am. I hate and love it. It's too early, but it gets my work hours out of the way. Well, I hope that all of you are having a great week so far. School has been tough, but we only have 4 weeks left of Summer semester, so it's finally almost over! I have been swamped though lately, so I apologize for a delay in my posts.

But, this is what I have for you today!

This is 2 coats of China Glaze Emerald Fitzgerald. This is a deep dark green'ish blue with what almost looks like super fine glitter particles. In some angles, it also looks foily but for the part, you can't even tell. I have used this polish once before a long time ago, the formula was perfectly fine, and when I used it again thsi time, formula was a bit thick and seemed to pull at the edges of my nails. I am assuming, the consistency changed over time. I think this is a very pretty color but I am not in love with it, although I have been complimented while wearing it. What do you think of it?

Has the ChG polishes consistency changed over time for you?

Number One Nemesis Dupe

I know I recently just posted a comparison a few days ago but I could not wait to share this with you all! As you recently know OPI Number One Nemesis was released with The Spiderman collection, which is the most recent collection released. I received this polish a while ago when I was one of the few thousands who were lucky enough to get the Bloom.com certificate for $20 a while back during Mother's day. While skimming through my collection, I noticed that the recent Jessica polish I purchased looked a lot like Number One Nemesis.

Index and ring: OPI Number One Nemesis
Middle and pinky: Jessica Smoky Feather

Left: OPI Number One Nemesis
Right: Jessica Smoky Feather

Both polishes are a deep greenish-charcoal grey micro-shimmer almost glitter looking. There's charcoal, gold, green, a silvery color, and an ever slight hint of blue.

So, I present to you Jessica Smoky Feather. I'm not sure where you can purchase these polishes but I buy mine from a local nail supply. But you can purchase Jessica polishes here. Both polishes were 2 coats although Smoky Feather is a lot more opaque than Number One Nemesis. Both polishes applied like butter, very smooth. The only difference that I see, is that Number One Nemesis has a slightly darker base but from a far, you could hardly tell. Smoky Feather is also glossier with no topcoat applied. Other than that, you can be the judge. As for me, I would say that Smoky Feather is close enough to be a dupe.

What you would say? Nay or yay?

Blue Moon

Hopefully everyone had a great weekend!

Tomorrow is Monday, and summer classes start. No break from Spring semester unfortunately, but I'm sure (and it better be) worth it.

Today I have this pretty mani for you! Thanks to Abbie from AbbieNail. I received this in my first international swap. I wish we had Barry M in the states. Man! Actually there are so many polishes in the UK that the US is missing. How sad. For the UK readers, are there polishes here in the US that isn't easily accessible to you?

Showcased above is Barry M Blue Moon. This is such a beautiful glossy pale baby blue. It sort of is jelly-ish and quite sheer. For me, this mani required 3 coats. At 2 coats it was still streaky, so 3 did the trick. I love the way it looks. I'm not really a blue person kind of polish, but I can definitely do this one. The one thing I was a little disappointed by, as you can see in the last photo, there is a very slight blur-ply (blue-ish purple) shimmer to it in the bottle but did not transfer on the nail. Before swatching it, I knew already that it wasn't going to show up once I polished it on my nails. However, I really enjoy this color. I can't want to try out some more Barry M's.

What do you think? Do you own any Barry M polishes that you would suggest?

Color To Diner For

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

I was going to blog this morning but didn't feel like it too much. So it's around 10PM right now and here I am!

Today I have a polish from the OPI Touring America collection. I actually didn't even know it was from that collection. But here is Color To Diner For. This was 2 opaque coats. This color is a berry leaning red with tiny gold/copper shimmer in it. I am beginning to notice that a lot of OPI polishes have this golden shimmer in it but doesn't transfer well onto the nails. Which is a little disappointing. None the less, it's a beautiful color. I just wished that the shimmer were more pronounced as the nails as it obvious in the bottle.

What do you think?

Kim-pletely Glass Pink

Good morning it's Wednesday! Half way done with the week, or so they call it "hump" day.

Don't you just love the name? Totally fit for her. Anywho, so that is what I have for today!

This one was probably one most wanted polishes when the Kardashian Kolors released their polish line. I know some people who paid $12-$15 for this polish. This is not your normal sheer jelly-looking pink. I actually picked it up because of the hype. But it's a pale milky pink with shimmer but it has beautiful iridescent blue/purple glassflecks in it!

I know most people did 4 coats but I switched it up. For the base I used a coat of Sinful Colors Glass Pink then 2 coats of Kim-pletely in Love. You can't see in the picture but under the perfect lighting you can see Glass Pink shining through and you can see the beautiful gold specks. I love the way it looks but I don't think it's to die for. So I am thinking about putting it in my blog sale. We will see how that goes!

Do you own Kim-pletely in Love or any of the KK colors from NOPI?
Anna

Also, I just have to share this with you because gas prices are going crazy!

Everyday I only hope to see gas being sold at the dollar store!

Smoldering

Only a month and half of school left. I am totally ready for summer break!

Well, happy Monday sort of. Today, I have a new polish that I just purchased over the weekend at Ulta when they had their 40% off sale. So here it is Revlon Smoldering.

Smoldering is is like a metallic-chrome frost with a grey base. It has swirls of really fine, foily shimmer. The picture do no justice but at different angles, you are able to see like the hints or teal/green and sometimes even pink. In real life, it is so much prettier! This was 3 coats. 2 would have been ok but my husband suggested 3 so I did that, which I barely ever do. The formula was not too thick or runny. Just perfect!

So what do you think of Smoldering? Do you own it?
