Has anyone read this? I haven't seen the movie or read the book but I was so shocked to have come across this article via a friend of mine on Facebook. Can you believe that it's 2012 and people can be like this? In my most humble opinion, this is very saddening.
I wonder what these people really think of the actors outside of the movie. "Nigger" "Black B^tch". It's disgusting.

my friend posted a link to the website buzzfeed talking about it and it shows some of those comments on twitter. It also shows inserts from the book with hi-lighted text describing rue's character having dark brown skin and eye's. Apparently they didn't read the book. It really is sad and pathetic that people would say stuff like.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I saw that in the article. I haven't read the book, but either way, why does her skin color even matter? It is indeed sad and pathetic.
Delete*Movie Spoilers Ahead** WHY on earth does it matter what color she is? Rue was my favorite character in the novel, I literally balled my eyes out at the movie theater when she died. I can't believe the nerve of some people. This is one of the most ignorant things I've ever seen in my life. Thanks for sharing, I hope these people are ashamed of themselves.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree! Its disgusting that people would say such things.
DeleteMan. I just can't understand people who say things like this! Very sad and pathetic. Sad face. :-(
ReplyDeleteAgreed!
DeleteJust makes me sad and shake my head.
ReplyDeleteYup. It really does.
Deleteoh my gosh as if this is still happening. as IF!
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, did I miss something? Is this not 2012? Weren't we over these issues decades ago? It baffles my mind that people are still affected by the color of one's skin, religion, sexual orientation etc. How could that possibly ruin a movie for someone? More importantly, how could that possibly bother someone so much they take to writing about it? It truly saddens me how prevalent these attitudes still are when there are so many larger issues we all individually have to worry about.
ReplyDeleteThis is sooooooooooo disgusting and depressing. First off it says in the book some of the characters have dark skin. Second Suzanne Collins the author of the books has said in an interview "They're African-American." Third why should it flippin matter what race they are?
